I know I'm skipping around a bit, but this is the first dramatic scene between the boy and the girl! It's kind of at a random place in the book, farther than I've showed on here, but I wanted to share it(: I think I did a pretty good job of creating the mood and whatever(: I loved writing this because I think it's just adorable! Tell me what you think<3
Sincerely, Michelle(:
James
is right behind me when I turn around, his finger pressed against my lips in a
silent motion to be quiet. I'm not used
to being so close to people, but I don’t move an inch. This is quite the unusual predicament, I
stand and ponder the situation while I stare at him. Until now I hadn't realized how much taller
he is than me. Here, with our bodies almost
touching, he stands almost a full head taller than me. If I stared straight ahead I would only see
full, chapped lips. I can feel his light
breath on my face. It smells like mint,
and something else I can't place, something sweet, maybe chamomile?
We
stand there in silence for a long moment, staring into each other's eyes, his
finger never leaving my lips, frozen in time.
I would be happy to stay here with him forever. Too soon, the moment is shattered by the
choking coughs of the person on the couch.
His eyes flit down, as if he only just noticed he was staring at me and
I was staring at him. His hand falls
limply to his side and he returns to attend to the sick person. I turn around and step away, too. Blood rises to my cheeks and I blush in
embarrassment, though I'm not sure why.
I'm still holding the doll and she looks up at me inquiringly. I drop her on a nearby couch, face down, and
look away. Turn my attention elsewhere.
